Descripción de los servicios que presta como profesional:
The Plant Physiology and Plant Microbe Interaction Laboratory (PPMI) have a solid position in plant physiology and microbe interactions, principally between plant growth promoting rhizobacteria Azospirillum and Bradyrhizobium and maize, soybean or wheat. This research line has been studied for over 20 years in our laboratory, principally at level of bacterial capacity to produce and metabolize phytohormones as gibberellins, auxins, citokynins, abscisic acid and ethylene and it has been financed by several inoculants companies from Argentina and Europe. On the other hand, interactions between plant stress homeo-regulating rhizobacteria Bacillus and Pseudomonas and halophytic plants has been studied during last 10 years at mechanisms responsible to regulate or promote the plant growth in abiotic stress conditions. Within UE project, PPMI will participate in physiological characterization wheat isolated rhizobacteria that trigger the nodal root development and/or regulate the plant growth under drought or high temperature stress conditions. Additionally, we expect to correlate these behaviors with the bacterial phytohormones production capacity.
Experiencia profesional:
Fabricio Cassán is Microbiologist with more than 14 years of experience within plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria Azosppirillum and Brayrhizobium and its effect on plants principally due to the production and metabolism of phytohormones. He obtained his PhD in 2003 working within phytohormones production by Azospirillum at the UNRC. He participated of short postdoctoral stays at (1) K.U.Leuven in Belgium (2008-2010); (2) Zadín Experimental Station and Granada University in Spain (2005), and (3) Max Planck Institute in Germany (2005). Currently, he is Researcher at the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científico Tecnológicas from Argentina (CONICET) and group leader at the Plant Microbe Interaction Laboratory of UNRC. He teaches since 1998 in courses of Plant Physiology and Plant Stress Physiology at UNRC. Currently, his research interest is focused on plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria and plant stress homeo-regulating rhizobacteria and how these microorganisms influence the plant growth even under environmental stress conditions.
