The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association has announced three winners in its new
Web Site of the Month competition. The winning companies are Big Dutchman (January),
Gold’n Plump Poultry (February), and Meat & Poultry (March). The competition
recognizes member company Web sites that excel in the areas of content, structure
and navigation, visual design, functionality, and marketing.

" Electronic communication is vital in today’s economic environment,”
said USPOULTRY President Don Dalton. “These sites deliver the company’s
message to a worldwide audience in an attractive and informative manner."

Big Dutchman, Holland, Mich., includes information on the company’s products
and history, employment opportunities, innovations, trade show activities, and
industry links. The Web site address is www.bigdutchmanusa.com.

Check out the Gold’n Plump Poultry site, www.goldnplump.com, for recipes,
food safety information, trivia, and details about the company’s products
and community and environmental efforts. Gold’n Plump Poultry, St. Cloud,
Minn., launched the site in April 2000. “Our goal is to have an Internet
extension of our brand personality that’s also a resource for consumers for
chicken recipes, product information, and brand/company information in a fun and
engaging format,” said Public Relations Specialist Dan Jacobson. Content
is developed within the company. The site is maintained and programmed by a team
of free-lancers working in Minneapolis. The most popular features are the meal
ideas section, which is updated quarterly, and the recipe search.

Meat & Poultry magazine, Kansas City, Mo., launched www.meatpoultry.com five
years ago. The site serves as an industry resource, providing an industry calendar,
a Job Center, poultry company profiles, product news, and regulatory updates.
Content comes from a variety of resources within the company and from outside
contributors. According to Publisher Chuck Jolley, the most popular feature is
the daily news package that is e-mailed to registered people Monday through Friday
by 10 a.m. It also is available to everyone who visits www.meatpoultry.com.

Each Web Site of the Month winner receives a graphic image to place on its Web
site and a plaque. Winning entries are profiled in a special section on the U.S.
Poultry & Egg Association Web site, www.poultryegg.org/WebsiteMonth/index.html.

USPOULTRY selects honorees on a quarterly basis. Member companies needing more
information about the competition should contact Pennie Howard at (770) 493-9401
or phoward@poultryegg.org.

The U.S. Poultry & Egg Association is the world’s largest and most active
poultry organization of its kind. The association’s work revolves around
research, education, communication, and product promotion.
