The pig is an artiodáctilo that is understood in the family Suidae, together with the boar, the faqcóquero, and the babirusa. HE/SHE DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH OUR PECARÍES THAT BELONG TO THE FAMILY TAYASSUYDAE.
It is a curious case their relationship with the Euro-Asian boar (Their scrofa ferus), because in spite of being two different species and with different I number of chromosomes (36 for the boar and 38 for the pig), they are indefinitely fertile to each other, what would be indicating us that they are species that newly are differing. It is evident that our domestic pig is the result of numerous crossings among European and Asian boars, many of them already extinguished.
I have experience in the since topic I am breeder of boars and of pigs, and I have made numerous tests with them in the last ten años.leto@amc.com.ar
