MAMISAN
DESCRIPTION
Intramammary ointment designed to treat mastitis during the dry period.
TECHNICAL PROPERTIES
The drying process is necessary in order to prepare the female for the upcoming labour, and also it allows the mammary gland to rest. This regeneration period can be used to eliminate the focuses of germs that could grow in the milk rests.
The components of MAMISAN are divided in two groups depending on the action that they undertake:
A)Antibiotics: erythromycin, framycetin and cloxacillin
Cloxacillin is specially used against infections of staphyloccocic origin. Framycetin is an aminoside antibiotic, specially useful in the treatment of infections caused by E. coli, Citrobacter and Corynebacterium. Erythromycin is a macrolid antibiotic that is quickly absorbed and it is diffused in tissues and blood fluids. Erythromycin is active against Gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus, Mycoplasma, Streptococcus, Corynebacterium and Clostridium.
B)Components of the excipient that help the antibiotics to remain in the gland during the dry period and to avoid infections the following year.
INDICATIONS AND SPECIES
Indicated for sheep, goats and cattle to treat mastitis during the dry period (between the last milking period and labour. This period is approximately 45 days for cattle.
