is it possible that you have a problem of accumulation, although it can also be that a poor ventilation exists, is Glassêr in general difficult to control if you don't consider these two factors predisponentes.
Greetings.

Please be more explicit... number of animals, age in which the problem is presented, if you are prescribing the food or not, and if you are making it, with what, if you buy pigs, or your farm is of complete cycle, etc, etc. Greetings.

For the sintomatología my dx. it would be acniobasioluspleuroneumoniea, because in Mexico we have this way cases. It is necessary to treat them as soon as possible, it can be with ceftiofur, 0.3 ml. intramuscular, deep, dead animals to cremate them, and a good ventilation. Is eye, to make since serología he/she can that in your farm it is about the virus of PRRS.

Dear Luis Alberto:
Some of the given answers begin giving lights on your problem. They have a lot of reason when speaking of the ventilation, it is also very important to keep in mind the general sanitation of the herd and the total measures of Bioseguridad.
Generally these problems where they are committed the breathing and digestive systems, although of this last one you don't speak in your communication, they are very related with the lack of appropriate handling of such aspects as temperature, ventilation, high densities (accumulation), feeding type and handling of the water.
It is very important to identify the microorganisms that can be present in the square, well be as primary or secondary agents, that which is not very clear in what you narrate as autopsy observations, although these make think that there is a mixed bacterial complication the one which, very probably, they come from some negligence in the sanitary handling.
Much care with the handling of the drink water, with the ventilation and with the accumulation of pigs. And when one speaks of adapted ventilation, this non quere to say that the animals undergo strong currents of air. No. What should be offered is a good replacement of the internal corrupted air for one fresh and I clean of the exterior.
The handling of the water is maybe one of the most important aspects in all cattle exploitation, and to the one that we don't generally give him many points in the qualification of the general handling, for a bad treatment antibacteriano of the water they can enter great quantity of viral, bacterial and parasitic illnesses.
It is not of more to take some samples of water and to take them to a laboratory for a bacteriological analysis.
In your case, a lot of cloth exists to cut. The important thing is that you continue observing, and God willing communicating all the new one that you see in your herd, and I am for sure you will find a lot of people that will want to help you with their advice.
I don't recommend you a specific pharmacological treatment, because I am not very friend of speaking of medications when I ignore the real diagnosis of the problem. Better it is that they are focused all the handling actions that can be implemented, first and to see the answer. Then yes to look for the treatment medically with a specific.
You should remember that for the wrong handling of the sanity they don't still exist neither you vaccinate neither medications.
I wish you the best in the lucks with your problem.

I Coincide with the Colleague Saline González. They are necessary more data to be able to compose the situation square that you have in the farm. That that me stranger is that they have not carried out a cultivation with the isolation of the patógeno that is acting in the square that describes. If it is not had all the information, one is with half of the diagnosis, and he/she thinks that it is only an infectious cause, and maybe, it is only a supposition because I don't have other data, be only the infectious agent a link, and the problem is in another place, and be not a problem of accumulation and ventilation, but another chain of factors that you/they favor the appearance of this pathological square. If you can enlarge the panorama, maybe one can help more to your problem. Until soon.

I Believe that apart from the problem of accumulation, ventilation, sanitation of the water and foods, you should inform more envelope a little the autopsy, but when solving the previously this thing, he/she can that your problem is solved, you don't forget to carry out the exams very protected since you don't know what you/they can have: first your security. Chauu.

The Illness of Glasser is a serious illness with poliartritis, poliserositis, meningitis and broquiolitis caused by different serotipos of Haemophilus parasusis. The transmission is for direct contact or for aerosol. The maternal immunity remains 2/4 weeks. They are common the mixed infections, caused by several serovares. Clinically it affects young pigs of 2 months it presents fever, anorexy, superficial disnea and inflammation to articulate. The death is presented in 2-5 days, and those that survive are chronic with arthritis, pericarditis, intestinal alterations. The lesions are abundant, with pleurisy, pericarditis and peritonitis fibrinosa, variable bronchopneumonia. Articulations inflamed and liquid sinovial cloudy meningitis purulenta. You can isolate the germ from windpipe or naríz. You can identify for PCR. The serología to titulaciones bigger than 1/80 (ELISA) it is considered indicative of infección.Tratamiento one can make with cefalosporinas, penicillins, tetraciclinas, florfenicol, quinolonas and sulfa-trimetoprim. The quick application of the treatment influences in the success of the same one. It is important to keep in mind the vaccines that exist for such an illness.

Dear Luis Alberto, I coincide a lot with the dissertations of the colleagues, but the attractive thing is not to have made a cultivation of the samples of the autopsies, you don't forget that this illness affects the pigs, and the symptoms are as the descriptos, and he/she has to see the environmental conditions of the hatchery. There are areas that are more inclined than others as for the presentation of cases. The swinish ones are animal very estresables as for humidity and temperature.

I Agree with most of the opinions on the presence of H. parasuis, but he/she fits to mention that it is not the only bacteria patógena producer of marked poliserositis. It should also be kept in mind the presence of Mycoplasma Hyorhinis, which presents poliserositis to the similar to haemophilus. On the other hand, I would recommend study inmunohistoquímico to determine y/o to discard other pathological entities. Now, if has been carried out histopatología, one would have a better part of the diagnosis.

Good, the lack of information on the case can lead to many opinions. The colleagues that precede me have a lot of reason in the topics that focus. I lean to the colleague's opinion a lot Luis Alberto from Colombia. In conclusion, the lack of a good handling in the technical conduction of a herd leads to a series of problems patógenos. It would recommend you to describe with more clarity all the symptoms that you observe, taking like reference the previous advice. He/she explains how the atmosphere is in which manage your farm, the place where it is located. In my case it will be something easier with these data to guide you since with certainty lives in Peru and I know the different climates and the different systems of upbringings. Otherwise it can be carried out a visit to your farm, if you request this way it for this means.
I wait it is you useful. Greetings.

I Agree with all that has thought about, but I eat some maifestó, more information is needed: it is important to know the case number, it should be known if they are becoming well the journeys in the farm, it can be a contamination of a mature animal. Not you if you have the whole cycle, it is required of more information.

thank you to respond to my doubts, do I thank them a lot the speed of their answers... Good, the pigs begin more or less with the symptoms 40 á 50 days of age, they begin with sneezes that later progress to cough, with thoracic breathing, they don't present snot, some present the swollen articulations, the animals continue eating. They are prescribing with clamoxil L.A, with dexametasona. Windows in the roofs that close and open up so that he/she improves the ventilation and the ammonia that accumulates come out. He/she already separated to pigs with advanced symptoms that are not being, for the pertinent analyses. I have also given myself with the surprise that the water that is used in the farm comes from the underground, and it is half salted (I already sent to make some analyses of the water). In each recría cradle 21 pigs are placed. The variations of temperature are also controlling to control the maxim and the minimum one with some thermometers... Good friends, any thing that I am spent would like them to make it to me to know. Newly I have arrived very recently at this farm, and I would like to nurture me of their valuable experience. Very grateful for their valuable help, and waiting their answers says goodbye.

Luis Vasquez

PD: Neither well they give me answer to the analyses, I make them to him to know.

The problem that you have in your herd is a bioseguridad problem and better handling of the changes of temperature, handlings of the fluctacion of air and to try not to have asinamiento for that this takes to these problems respiratotios.

you Already have an element more than the problem, the water. I hope the results have them to the hand. Soon according to I will be possible you to recommend some techniques to solve the topic, but for the time being you should have some care with the medication that you are using. What you find if instead of dexalan -that is what you should be using - you use VETALOJ, it proves and I believe that you will have different results. Remember young, the professional learns in two times: in the university and in the experience. I find that you drowning in a glass of water are been. Remember that I asked him previously where the farm is located in our Country. We have a great variety of climates, and it is one of the places in the hemisphere of climatological fortune, but it also brings their consequences. In that sense, for the experience that I have, he/she wanted to know where it is located to be able to conclude with a better presumptive diagnosis, and so that you have the opportunity to solve the problem. Also remember that the professional's prestige is to demonstrate the acquired knowledge with the humility that characterizes us to the Veterinary Doctors from the Peru. You eat High school he/she still has the opportunity to continue learning. Make decisions technical sinn fear, send the sample of the secretions, take samples of the articulations and of blood, send you show from what believes convenient to the laboratory, and count us the results. Speak with the proprietor, and explain to him that it should solve the sanitary problems technically, for not generating more losses of animals, and for ende of money to the company. I work in the Ministry of Agriculture, in the AREA OF UPBRINGINGS. I PUT ON AT YOUR DISPOSAL FOR ANY PERSONAL CONSULTATION. The Ministry is in charge of the productive chains of swinish, guinea pigs, bovine and other chains in the cattle area. Here we have specialists in the case, it can come closer when he/she prefers it.

Dr. Hualpa, I thank their quick answer on his behalf a lot. Clear, the farm is in window for the refinery the pampilla in the Callao. Nowadays we have sacrificed a pig of 60 days and they took lung samples (focuses neumónicos), heart, kidney (the right was bigger than the left one), and like it was with some diarrhea, I sent a yeyuno piece to which I tied the ends with grounds inside of). This animal didn't present swelling in the articulations, and when I cut I didn't find any strange secretion. It was also sent to make an antibiograma. On Monday they will pick up the results of the analyses of the water. It was already spoken with the proprietor, and he/she will be carried out a fumigation of the recría area, first we will use lance flames, and then an iodóforo will be used to fumigate the cradles. I would love to converse personally with you. I would like us to fix a date so that I can go to the ministry or where you believe convenient. I am very grateful for the interest and for the borrowed help. I wait their answer to be able to converse attentively of the topic.

Good jevencito, charmed of being able to serve it. You can to visit to the Ministry of Ag. the day that he/she believes convenient. My schedule of service is of 8am. at 6pm. We are in the ninth floor, area of Upbringings. If it can visit one another with the results of the laboratory, it would be better, sew that then we will have the opportunity to share with the colleagues on the case and the solutions. I am for sure he/she will be expecting from our answer that from it is already a commitment for this means. Greetings to all the colleagues and all the professionals and natural people that have participated in this topic of a lot of interest. From I already intend them to articulate an encounter of experiences, something like that as an international congress in the country that you/they believe convenient to treat topics like this and others that it feels convenient. It is the idea. Take care a lot.
Greetings to all.

I Agree fully with the comments of the other colleagues, mainly with Lucy's description so practical and guessed right Salazar.

If the pertinent tests confirm the presumptive diagnosis of Illness of Glasser, next I describe him a program of therapeutic control that can give him good results.

* In case the pigs lactantes are affected, you can prevent the illness:
- To inject the mothers the same day of the childbirth with penicillin, amoxicilina, ampicilina, or to prescribe the I think before 7 days and 7 days after the childbirth.

* In the event of presenting the illness in pigs weaned y/o of the one it puts on weight:
- To prescribe nursing portions, initiators y/o of entrance of it puts on weight with 200 - 250 gr/ton of fenoximetil penicillin or amoxicilina or ampicilina, in dose of 300 gr/ton.
- He/she can also give a good result to prescribe the drink water with amoxicilina 3 days a week, during the period of more incidence.

I wait siceramente that doesn't have to put into practice this protocol and that the problem is much simpler.

thank you to ALL the DOCTORS and ENGINEERS that have responded us. At the moment they are taking the preventive measures with the pigs that are entering to the area of of Maternity, and they are applying amoxicilina (Clamoxil L.A) 2 days before the childbirth, and to the pigs after 6 hours of having been born (0.2 ml of Clamoxil L.A to c/u), then to the 10 days and the weaning (21 days) 0.5ml.
The illness, like my partner said, we are trying her to control in recría that is the polluted atmosphere. To those that are at the moment there we are treating them with another antibiotic, apparently the clamoxil was no longer effective, and it has been begun to use the Enrofloxacina for via oral (ENROPRO 10), and apparently we are having good results, because today has been our 3º application, and that symphony of cough is no longer listened. And to the animals that are entering to the recría area we are giving them Stres Pack Bonus (so that they lift the defenses), and do eat the prescribed food (is what we are in doubt if to use the same Enrofloxacina in the food or Ciprofloxacina, have they commented me that in animals of early age it can interfere in the growth and conformation of the animal?).
On the other hand, have they been presented in the animals of 2 months abcesos in the part of the jowl, can it be for some small lesion for fights, or be some secondary infection perhaps?
As Luis he/she commented Alberto, my partner, the disinfection it is carrying to an extreme (FIRE AND DISINFECTANT).
I thank them a lot for the time that you/they take to our case, and he/she would want them to clear me these doubts:
1 - will the animal that recovers, be as payee?
2 - the antibiotics in food Quinolonas, affects the development of the young animals (does it FATTEN)?
3 - will the animals that recover, always have to consume food prescribed until one week before their shipment to camal?
4 - the mothers F1 of the farm that are exposed to the illness, could they contract it? (they are mature mothers of more than 4 childbirths).
Again I am very pleased by their answers so guessed right.
I am attn of you, their friend
