to adopt an age to the weaning, the variables should be analyzed that will affect us, for example:
* we will need less parideras, because we will have bigger rotation, but we will need bigger precebo corrals.
* the precebo corrals will have bigger handling necessities since they will receive pigs fewer developed.
How the fertility of the female will be affected: with the weaning to the 21 days can serve the female to the 10 days, because the uterine involución is more developed, but if we wean it to the 15 days, equal should wait an acceptable involución to be able to serve with success to the female.
If we wean to the 15 days we will have bigger quantity of lechones/año, but the average of their pesos they will be smaller.
Weaning to the 15 days will have bigger quantity partos/años, but smaller quantity of lechones/parto.
If we wean to the 15 days we will invest less in concentrated, because the consumption of the females in nursing is high.
The most important factor is that in weaning, to the 15 days we affect even more the well-being of the pigs, and we will have losses for estrés.

As Zootecnista, it would recommend the weaning to the 15 days, only in farms to build or with the required facilities, there are bigger earnings as for the pigs, but there is also bigger investment in infrastructure, bioseguridad and handling in general. Apart from this, I believe that the weaning to the 21 days is the most suitable in most of the farms.

Ah, and the most important thing is to advise us of suitable people, the empiric knowledge in these topics is important, but there are topics that we cannot manage but by means of the investigation and the study of the same ones. In the agricultural environment we exist professionals as Zootecnistas, Veterinarians and Agricultural Administrators, each one specialized in their area that you/they can advise him to improve their production.

Hello Friends Porcicultores and other. I have just implemented the system of Deep Bed in a small property that I possess for the sides of The Table (C). For this implementation, I based myself on some facilities that I had the opportunity to visit for the sides of Acacias (it Puts). Equally I almost kept in mind that all the information that the Dr. Chavarro has commented in this forum, and which was me of a lot of utility. For the time being I have adapted a galpón of 10 x 5 Mts, in which I have 40 pigs of approximately 30 Kilos each one, and at the moment I am adapting another galpón of similar measures for other 40 pigs. I take two weeks with this project, and until the moment he/she is behaving as it had planned it (at all level, including feeding costs). As I see that several of you they wanted to be able to have the possibility to look at the infrastructure that is needed to adapt for these cases, which is very economic, with a lot of pleasure and taking advantage of that my property is not so far from Bogotá, I am willing to receive them in her and to show them what I have implemented.

I have them my experience deep bed:
The construction for 12 breeding sows and I found difficult their reproducer around 18´000.000 of pesos of those which, 4 millions more or less wore out in the cement badge and the foundations of the porqueriza (bad idea with the prices for the floor of the pig meat and the expensive concentrate, when I will recover that investment). Likewise I bought 3 cages parideras with their accessories. When I carried out this investment he/she had already listened on the deep bed, but he/she went against all the parameters of sanity and handling that I learned in the University. After 6 months of the handling of my animals in this intensive system, I decided to prove the blissful deep bed, and I count them that I regret not to have had the experience that I have now with this system. He/she has gone me so well with the deep bed that I decided to pull up the cages parideras, and to manage everything in deep bed. At the beginning I was fearful of managing childbirths in deep bed (husk of rice), but I count them that better results could not have, animals zero stress, without problems prune them, anything of bad scents, magnificent pigs, and anything of squashing, neither of sanitary or reproductive problems in the sows.

That that yes I recommend it is to change the bed at least every 3 months, more when drainage problems are had by blame of the cement, like in my case (neither way of breaking the badge of concrete + costs). To get the husk of rice, contract the trip from the plain, and although it is worth 450.000 pesos, the benefit as for the production of the pig and of organic payments (bioabonos), it is more than justified.

Hello Friends Porcicultores: I share with you the very positive experience that has offered me this system until today's day. Some days ago I took out the first lot of it feeds of forty (40) pigs with the following results: The pigs entered to the galpón with a weight average of 24 Kilos, and after ten (10) weeks they went out with a weight average of 90 Kilos. In the whole cycle each pig wasted away 3.7 bundles on the average of concentrated (bundles of 40 Kilos), they began consuming an average of 1 Kl. for pig per day, and they finished consuming an average of 2.4 Kl. for pig per day. During the whole cycle the pigs were fed only and exclusively with concentrated food, which I/you/they were had in all available moment in the chute (it was not rationed). Feeders were used - semiautomatic drinking troughs. The type of used concentrate was the line industrial special y/o that manages the mark that I am using that although it is the most expensive, I believe that it shows more than enough the good benefits (for the friends of the sector of Cundinamarca, the mark with which I am working is Concentrated Red Crest). No pig presented during the cycle some illness súntoma. He/she began with a bed of approximately 20 centimeters, and in the measure in that the pigs were acquiring weight he/she left adding more material until finishing with a bed of approximately 25 centimeters. For the bed I am using the material Husk of Rice, which I am buying directly in the mills of rice that are located by the sides of Girardot and the Spinal one (each pressed paca of approximately 70 Kilos have a cost of $3.000 bought in the mill). The galpón is located at an approximate distance of ten (10) meters of the housing house, and to the date it has not presented in any moment problems of bad scents y/o of flies. It was very useful to be adding a small layer of husk of rice on the sector of the galpón (they chose a corner of him) that the pigs used to make their necessities (eye! to add more, not to change, this husk addition was carried out approximately once per week). At the end of the cycle the bed is under good conditions to receive the second lot. He/she makes fifteen (15) days I entered in another galpón that was built, a second lot with a weight average initial of 23 Kilos, and to today's day their weight averages it is already in 34 kilos. Hello my name is Ramiro Agurto, I am from the to city of The Ángeles VIII Region - Chile.
It is I very pleasing to know that they exist this type of instances where people of different parts can share information and experiences on this topic. I would like to begin in the business of the pigs and especially with this system, since it is but friendly with the environment and with the animals, apart from being but economic and I would like to know a couple of things on this system:
- can one have the whole low cycle this system? that is to say reproduction, gestation, maternity, raises, recría and it puts on weight
- apart from making compost once with the bed retreat, can one give like food to ruminant (bovine of it puts on weight) or some other application like biogás?
- if somebody could facilitate construction designs, troughs, drinking troughs and distribution of the facilities.
- percentage of profitability of this system, even when they are different countries and with different prices either of inputs like of the same animals it is alone to have a reference.
