DESCRIPTION
Combined penicillins prepared as injectable suspension with long lasting action.
TECHNICAL PROPERTIES
Penicillins block the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall and have a half-life of approximately three hours. Therefore, one injection is needed every three hours, in order to maintain a effective antibiotic concentration. To avoid this inconvenience penicillins are prepared as long lasting action penicillins like the ones present in PENVET: penicillin benzatine and penicillin procain.
Tripelenamine is an antihistaminic that avoids anaphylactic shocks caused by hypersensitivity to penicillins.
Dihydrostreptomycin is an antibiotic belonging to the aminoglycosides group and has bacteriostatic action, not only on the multiplication stage but also on germs in dormancy. It disturbs the reading of messenger RNA at ribosome level, causing as a result the formation of abnormal proteins. Its action spectrum is basically against Gram negative bacteria, specially Pasteurella, Shigella, coliforms and Pseudomona. Some Gram positive germs are also sensitive, like for example Corynebacterium, Streptococcus and Staphylococcus.
The solution is resuspended well due to an accurate compounding.
INDICATIONS AND SPECIES
Intended for pigs, sheep, goats and cattle for the treatment of diseases caused by Gram negative and Gram positive germs: Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Pneumococcus, Bacillus, E. Coli, Proteus, Pasteurella and Haemophillus, which cause pneumonia, septicaemia, mastitis and metritis.
