DESCRIPTION
MASTIYET POWDER is a synergistic association of polymixin, neomycin and spiramycin in premix powder.
TECHNICAL PROPERTIES
The association of polymyxin, neomycin and spiramycin possesses a very wide action spectrum as Polymyxin is active with Gram-negative bacteria, Spyramycin with Gram-positive bacteria and Neomycin with aerobic Gram-negative bacteria.
Polymyxin B is a polypeptidic antibiotic primarily used for resistant gram negative infections. Polymyxins bind to the cell membrane and alters its structure making it more permeable. The resulting water uptake leads to cell death. Specially useful in the fight against Salmonella, Pseudomona, E. coli, Shigella, Proteus, Pasteurella, Klebsiella, Bordetella and Enterobacter.
Spiramycin, a well-established macrolide, has such a structure and is also active against most common respiratory tract pathogens. It has been proven to have good penetration into respiratory tract tissues and fluids.
Similar to other aminoglycosides, neomycin has excellent activity against Gram negative bacteria, and has partial activity against Gram positive bacteria. It interferes with protein synthesis in sensitive bacterial cells such as species of Proteus and Staphylococcus and is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, being used to treat intestinal infections.
INDICATIONS AND SPECIES
Intended for pigs, sheep, goats and cattle in the treatment of diarrhoeas in young animals, oedema disease caused by E. coli and neumoenteritis.
