DESCRIPTION

Doxycycline hiclate in oral solution.

TECHNICAL PROPERTIES

Doxycycline is a semi-synthetic liposoluble tetracycline that is absorbed for 80-90% at digestive level and that persists for a long time in the organism due to its strong fixation to plasma proteins. Its half life is 18 to 22 hours.

Doxycycline like other tetracyclines, may form a stable calcium complex in any bone-forming tissue, though in vitro it binds calcium less strongly than other tetracyclines so it is appropriate to administer it to young animals. It has a wide antibacterial action spectrum: Salmonella, E. coli, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Lysteria, Corynebacterium, Clostridium, Clamidias, Pasteurella, Actinobacillus, Mycoplasmas and Haemophillus. It is also active against some protozoa like Giardia.

INDICATIONS AND SPECIES

Intended for poultry, pigs, sheep, goats and cattle for the treatment of:
- Poultry: colibacilosis, mycoplasmosis, C.R.D., staphyloccocia and pasteurelosis.
- Pigs: pneumonia, actinobacillosis, nephritis, arthritis and diarrhea.
- Sheep and goats: pneumonia, clamydiasis, diarrhea and arthritis.

- Calves: pneumonia, diarrhea and arthritis.
