R-Salbutamol
R-salbutamol growth agents are classic metabolic modifiers that at very low doses, convert energy normally used for fat production into energy for meat production. They offer a unique, highly specific and highly effective function in animals.The Intellectual Property which forms the basis of Stirlings technology revolves around a pharmaceutical called R-salbutamol. R-salbutamol is a purified version of the compound salbutamol (also known as albuterol) which has worldwide acceptance for the treatment of asthma in humans.
Salbutamol exists as two different chemical forms (isomers). Purifying this mixture of isomers to a compound containing only a single isomer (the R isomer) has several advantages, including a reduction of adverse effects caused by the unwanted isomer and preventing the interference with the favourable effects of the active isomer (or enantiomer).
The indication for R-salbutamol products will be to enhance growth, improve feed efficiency, and/or improve carcass quality by increasing the lean meat content and decreasing fat content. According to published evidence, R-salbutamol may also be efficacious in certain species of
farmed fish and for other poultry types such as turkeys or
ducks.
