PGCL synthetic absorbable monofilament surgical suture is composed of poly(glycolide-cocaprolactone). PGCL synthetic absorbable monofilament sutures are available dyed with FD&C violet #2 or undyed (natural). PGCL synthetic absorbable monofilament suture meets all requirements established by the United States Pharmacopoeia (U.S.P.), except for diameter.

Implantation studies in animal indicate that PGCL suture retains approximately 70 to 80 of its origional tensile strength at 7 days post implantation and approximately 40 of its origional tensile strength at 14 days post implantation.
