Pioneering Technology for Improved Food and Feed Safety |
With global concern over food and feed safety at all all-time high, producers are looking for answers and ways to promote confidence in the quality and safety of their products. VICAM offers a full spectrum of rapid, accurate test kits for mycotoxins and pathogens which simplifies testing and provides the rapid turnaround needed for today´s production environment. New products and technologies are at the heart of VICAM´s efforts to create value for the industry in the form of rapid, simple to use methods for mycotoxins. Mycotoxins are often screened as grain is brought from the field into storage – the new AflaCheck™ product meets the need for rapid, low cost aflatoxin screening at the farm, elevator and processing facility/mill. The new AflaCheck™ provides results in as little as 3 minutes for grain and peanuts and may be used virtually anywhere. The value of AflaCheck is found in its speed and ease of use, and it may be utilized for either 10ppb or 20ppb screening with a simple method modification.
Once mycotoxins are confirmed to be present in a commodity or feed, quantitation is essential. This next step may also be performed in the field and at point of sale and storage with a simple fluorometric test kit, such as AflaTest®. VICAM offers fluorometric test kits for all major mycotoxins, including aflatoxin, DON, fumonisin, zearalenon and ochratoxin. Results appear in a digital display as parts per billion (ppb) or parts per million (ppm) levels, which may then be used to determine suitability for a particular application or product. Most quantitative, fluorometric tests from VICAM require only 6-10 minutes to complete. AOAC and USDA-GIPSA approvals ensure that every effort has been made to provide the most complete and accurate methods for these important natural contaminants.
Laboratories that serve the food and agriculture industries look to VICAM to provide the best sample preparation technologies available for mycotoxin analysis. With single and multiple mycotoxin capabilities, VICAM immunoaffinity columns help to develop and maintain ‘gold standard´ methods worldwide, and are versatile enough to be used with HPLC and LC/MS/MS detection of individual mycotoxins or for multiple toxin analyses using AflaOchra™, AOZ™ and the soon-to-be-released MYCO6IN1™ LC/MS/MS.
