Jakarta will be the host venue of Indonesia's No.1 Livestock Industry Event - INDO LIVESTOCK 2004 Expo & Forum from 25th to 27th February, 2004 at the Jakarta Convention Centre, Jakarta-Indonesia. Over 6,000 delegates and trade visitors comprising veterinarians, farmers, integrators, feedmillers, processors, retailers are expected to once again gather at the country's most important industry event. Hosted by the Directorate General of Animal Farming and supported by key associations, this event is supported by international conferences and seminars focusing on feed management, animal health, modern farming systems, food quality and further processing and packaging systems. INDO LIVESTOCK 2004 will also host the 2nd Indonesian Livestock Industry Awards 2004 which is the industry's most prestigious awards which recognizes the contributions of organizations and individuals in furthering the cause of this sector.

Widely recognized by the industry as the most successful trade event for animal production, processing and products, this event is staged to promote the development and modernization of this industry to meet increasing protein demand in Indonesia.

Officiated by President Megawati, the inaugural event showcased over 300 exhibitors from 20 countries including major integrators such as Charoen Pokphan, Japfa Comfeed, Sierad and Cibadak. In addition top industry players including Intertrade, Big Dutchman, Facco, Val, Hubbard ISA, GSI, Petersime, Valli, Chickmasters, Techno, Linco, Stork, Salmet, Adiseo, Roxell, VDL, Roche, Pal, Medion and Finnfeed made Indo Livestock Expo the largest in Indonesia.

The potential for intensive animal production and processing in Indonesia is immense in view of 2 key factors: one, the huge population which is estimated at 224 million and two, the very low per capital consumption of meat which is one of the lowest in the region. More importantly, Indonesia needs to modernize its farming and processing technology to meet intense competition in the global markets. Blessed with huge natural resources including a hard working work force, Indonesia looks set to become a major meat producer in the region.
