This ESVV conference will provide an opportunity for scientists, veterinarians and other end-users to meet, debate and discuss important aspects of circovirus research with particular focus on pathogenesis, epidemiology and control of circovirus diseases of economic importance to the global pig and poultry industry.

The scientific programme will consist of plenary invited speakers from around the world, oral and poster presentations:

Introduction

Pathogenesis
* Steve Krakoka, USA: The Pathogenesis of PCV2 infections in Swine. Lessons from a gnotobiotic model.
* Joan Smyth, USA: Comparative pathogenesis: CAV and avian circoviruses.

Molecular Biology
* XJ Meng, USA: Molecular Biology of Circoviruses: Antigenic Epitopes and Genetic Determinants for PCV2 replication and Virulence.
* Philippe Biagini, France: "Molecular and taxonomic relationship of circoviruses, anelloviruses and plant viruses with circular, single-stranded DNA genomes".

Immunology
* Mick Bailey, UK: Development of the immune system in the neonatal piglet and its interaction with PCV2 infection.
* Karel A. Schat, USA: “Immunosuppression by chicken anemia virus”.

Epidemiology
* Laura Green, UK: Epidemiology of PMWS. PMWS in GB - evidence for a new epidemic.

Diagnosis and Control
* Branson Ritchie, USA: Psittacine beak and feather disease: disease, diagnosis & control.
* Catherine Elisabeth Charreyre, DVM, MS, Vaccination strategies for control of circoviral diseases in pigs.
