XX Latin American Poultry Congress will be held in Porto Alegre
One of the most important events in the world in this field will be held from 25th to 28th September
Twenty thousand visitors, 180 exhibiting companies and about 2.000 congressmen/congresswomen in an area of 30.000sqmt. These are the first estimates of the XX Latin American Poultry Congress, which will be held in Porto Alegre, Brazil, from 25th to 28th of September/2007. The congress will use the whole event area of the FIERGS Exhibition & Convention Center, the Federation of Industries for the State of Rio Grande do Sul´s official venue. FIERGS is one of the partners in the event promotion along with Brazilian Poultry Union (UBA) and Latin American Poultry Association (ALA).
The Congress is held every 2 years, and in 2005 it was held in Panama. In Brazil, the last edition was held in the year of 1983, in Balneário Camboriú, state of Santa Catarina. The hot topics to be discussed in the next edition are nutrition, poultry production, animal well-being, sanity, egg layers, breeders, incubation and processing.
One of the most important meetings of world´s poultry, the Congress gathers international leaders and authorities, researchers and members of scientific community, congressmen/congresswomen and also businessmen. Besides the lectures of national and international experts and the presentation of scientific works, there will be business conferences aiming at the debate on the challenges to enlarge the international market of poultry and strategies to increase the exportation of poultry products with added value. Also, it will be discussed the poultry market and the international negotiations.
Brazil is the major chicken meat exporter in the world – the Brazilian poultry represents 55% of Latin America’s production. The country produces 9.3 million tons of chicken meat yearly, 370 thousand of turkey meat and 26.5 billions of eggs. This sector is responsible for more than 4 million of direct and indirect jobs in Brazil. The Brazilian products reach more than 140 different countries and provide an exchange revenue of more than 3.5 billion dollars.
The Latin American producers count for 25% of the production and almost 50% of the world chicken meat exportation. Due to the weather, quality, sanity and great demand of seeds, the importance of poultry production in Latin America is higher each year.
