Dear Ruben: It is very difficult to any laboratory to have a very positive result on Brucella tests. All official swine brucellosis tests must be conducted in approved laboratories, that have been specifically recognized for conducting swine brucellosis serology. An approved laboratory must have the capability to conduct a minimum of three official tests and must be able to isolate Brucella from milk, blood, and tissues or have procedures in place to forward samples to another approved laboratory for bacteria isolation. All blood samples tested for swine brucellosis must be submitted to a designated program laboratory within 24 hours. It is unlikely that your female swine were carrying residual antibodies to interfere with the vaccination.
